What does it mean to make no compromise? It means that we must live in the world but not be of the world. It means that we must follow the command of Jesus when he says “Anyone who would come after me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23). Our daily “crosses” come in many forms. It may be refusing to help a friend cheat, choosing not to go to the party, turning the other cheek, sitting by the outcast instead of with your friends at lunch, and so many more. What are the “crosses” in your life? In what ways is Jesus asking you to live in the world but not be of the world? Are you following the world or Jesus? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to follow the world and chose to follow God. God saved them from certain death. Do you trust that God will be by your side as you face certain death (perhaps literally, but I use it figuratively)? Don’t forget that you are an alien living in this world.
